Chapter History

In the Spring of 1974 a group of local Alpha men came together with a mission of starting a graduate chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha in the Lowndes-Valdosta area. After several meetings and much discussion, a plan was put into motion to create a charter of what has become to be known as “Kappa Tau Lambda” Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. The new Graduate Chapter was founded the 21st day of November 1974. The eight Charter Brothers of Kappa Tau Lambda are: Arthur Leslie Hart, Albert t. Johnson, Alford Kinsey, James Leonidas Lomax, William Pompey, J. Herman Revels Jr., Etheridge E. Williams, Lafayette W. Williams Jr.

The Charter Brothers of the mid 70’s could not have imagined that what they started would thrive and grow into the Kappa Tau Lambda Chapter of today. These brothers of vision lives on today, through their Manly Deeds, Scholarship and Love for All Mankind!
